Brace yourself: Russian music is coming!

You are sick of Last Christmas and need a break from all this christmassy music? Well, let’s listen to some Russian music then …

1. RASA – Под фонарём
   This is one of my favourites that always get stuck in my head. It’s not a very complex song, but nice to dance to – be it под фонарём (under street lights) or not.
   
2. Газировка – Black
   Another party song! Admittedly, the lyrics are quite shallow, but so are Despacito’s, and who cares about that?
   
3. Tatarka – Алтын // Altyn
   Girl Power – or “Pussy Power“! Tatarka is a hip-hop artist from Tatarstan in Russia and raps in Tatar (which is not at all like Russian, it’s a Turkic language) and English.
4. Звери – Районы Кварталы
   Nice to know this one if you go to a bar and suddenly everybody around you starts singing along.
   
5. ЛСП – Номера
   This song by the band LSP from Belarus is also very popular – although it is forbidden on the territory of the Russian Federation since april 2018, due to the lyrics, which are considered to describe how to commit suicide. The video of “Монетка”, another LSP-song, was blocked for the same reason.
